Tina Hoang-To

Tina Hoang-To
Founding General Partner
Tina invests across a wide range of sectors, with direct experience in both consumer and enterprise software businesses.
She is focused on leading Kin Ventures’ investment practice, with a passion for enterprise SaaS, health & wellness, marketplace, edtech, fintech, and web3 companies. Tina’s active investments include Logixboard and Alloy Automation.
Before launching Kin, she led emerging growth investments for Obvious Ventures and served on the board of Torch and invested in Medable. Prior to that, Tina was Executive Vice President at TCV focusing on growth deals and invested in companies like Splunk (NASDAQ: SPLK), Merkle (acquired by Dentsu). She previously founded and served as CEO of Wedding Spot (acquired by Cvent), the first online marketplace to offer instant price quotes for wedding venues across 43 states in the United States.
Tina received a BS and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Santa Clara University's Leavey School of Business. Tina grew up in the Bay Area and loves to travel. She spent two years traveling full-time, covering over 50 countries and 275 cities. She now lives in the greater Seattle area and enjoys adventures outdoors.

Ben Herman

Ben supports our portfolio companies post investment, with a focus on all things talent.
As a former recruiter, Ben spent over a decade building an executive search firm that provides the highest caliber of software engineers to the most successful quantitative trading funds in the U.S. like Jane Street Capital, Twosigma, and Hudson River Trading.
He then went on to found a technology company that would help companies like Lyft, Airbnb, and Twitch hire talent from underrepresented groups. Ben’s company was backed by Sequoia Capital, and Owl Ventures, and he has raised more than $80 million in capital in his career.
Ben grew up in London and moved to Los Angeles with his wife after getting married in 2014. Outside of work, Ben is a proud father to two girls and loves spending time playing golf, traveling, and hanging out with friends and family.

Dhruv Asher

Dhruv Asher
Venture Partner
Dhruv Asher is a Venture Partner at Kin Ventures. Dhruv will leverage his deep expertise around building, scaling and his operating experience to give portfolio companies a competitive edge.
Dhruv currently leads Business Development and Technology Alliances at UiPath (NYSE: PATH). Dhruv set the product vision and his team executed the strategic partnerships and ecosystem strategy as part of the executive team from Series B to Initial Public Offering.
Before joining UiPath, Dhruv was a senior member of the Corporate and Business Development teams at Microsoft, where he sourced, evaluated, negotiated and executed acquisitions, strategic partnerships and investments to support Microsoft’s strategic priorities. Before joining the Corporate and Business Development teams, Dhruv was a senior trader at Microsoft’s Capital Markets group managing a proprietary $7 billion Strategic Investment portfolio. He started her career in trading at Robertson Stephens.
Dhruv received a Bachelor of Arts (cum laude) in Economics and Communication from Denison University and an MBA from Kellogg School of Management. Dhruv is a CFA charter holder.

Ben Joseph

Recruiting Partner
Ben joined our in-house recruiting agency, GT Partners, in late 2012 and has almost a decade of experience recruiting backend engineers and quantitative researchers into a variety of high frequency trading firms and technology companies. In recent years, Ben and GTP have made hires into the likes of Mongo DB, Clever, Logixboard, Edge Delta, Canvas, and Circle.
Ben oversees the recruiting team and sets technical direction as GTP is expanding across both regions and markets.

Kamran Punian

Kam joined our in-house recruiting agency, GT Partners, in late 2021 to drive expansion into the technology sector and provide dedicated support to all companies within the Kin Ventures’ portfolio. Kam has a diverse understanding of the technology markets and recruits across the stack as well as within the infrastructure space.

Penny Breen

Penny Breen
CFO Advisor
Penny has been a CFO in the Venture Capital Industry for the last 20+ years and in the Hedge Fund industry for 8 years prior. Main investment focus was early-stage companies in the technology and medical device industries.
Penny’s scope of responsibilities includes the traditional CFO duties but also her ability to interact and mentor CEO’s of Portfolio Companies. Penny is a true entrepreneur at heart and comes from a family of entrepreneurs. In late 2016, Penny created PB Group LLC, as an outsourced CFO provider for venture capital firms. At Kin Ventures, Penny advises us on financial reporting, audit and tax, new fund creation, investment structure, and investor relations.

Angelique Ourfalian

Controller Advisor
As Controller Advisor, Angelique is responsible for working with our fund administrator, overseeing fund accounting and preparation of quarterly financial statements along with year-end tax and audit.
Angelique has 20+ years of experience in Fund Accounting, Tax and Audit. She worked in Hedge Funds earlier in her career and now primarily works with Venture Capital and Private Equity clients. Recently, she was the Controller for a Search Fund in Boston where she managed six funds with over $100M under management as well as managing all aspects of their operating company including HR and Payroll. Angelique actively worked with portfolio companies tracking ownership and performance. Prior to that, she worked for 16 years at a Boston Venture Capital firm managing two of their Funds with commitments over $300M that she still manages today.
